Roman Day in P6

5th Apr 2023

On Monday we had a great time dressing up as Romans and learning about Roman life.  We started the day with Latin language lesson, followed by a lesson on Roman numerals.

Breaktime was a little different as we had a Roman banquet and we were able to create our own Roman menus.  Did you know Romans enjoyed eating dormice and peacocks?  Thankfully they weren't on the menu in class.  Alfie really enjoyed the dates and honey, we think he could quite happily eat as a Roman.

We enjoyed printing our own legion banner designs onto fabric as well, even if it was a bit messy.

There was the opportunity to take part in an archaeological dig and find different Roman artefacts, the best bit was finding the tiny Roman coin.

We got to experience life as a Roman soldier and took part in marching in the 'Tortoise Formation'.  It was hard to keep in line and in time with Mrs Radcliffe shouting 'sinister, dexter, sinister dexter'.

To end our day we sang about Roman life following a programme produced by the BBC.
