❄️ Winter ❄️ in P1 ❄️

14th Jan 2024

We have had the most amazing week exploring winter through many of our play-based learning activities!

Miss Reynolds has read us lots of winter stories and we particularly loved ‘The Runaway Iceberg’ and ‘Be Brave Little Penguin’ 🐧!  In these stories we talked about many different animals that live in ‘cold places’ and also what we could see and find in ‘cold places’ … especially snow, igloos and icebergs!

During play time we ..
- created ‘snowy igloo pictures’ using our duplo for bricks!
- tried to keep ‘our penguins’ on the ‘slippery icebergs’!
- used ‘ice balls’ to knock down as many ‘icebergs’ as possible and counted how many we knocked down!
- made pretty little snowflakes ❄️ using different shades of blue paper!
- made snowballs, snow caves and snowmen with our ‘snow’ and used our ‘snowy animal friends to create a winter wonderland’ .. polar bear 🐻‍❄️, artic fox, reindeer, seals 🦭 and lots more!
- used our ‘snow mobile diggers’ to help ‘scoop up as many snowballs as possible’!
- created and completed wintery jigsaws!
- used ‘frosty playdoh’ to make icicles, wintery animals and snowmen ⛄️ and much more!
- used ‘ice skaters on paint brushes’ and they ‘skated’ across the ‘ice’ to form our magic letter sounds!

So much winter fun in Eden P1! 🥶❄️
We hope to see some ‘winter snow’ in Carrickfergus this coming week!!

We did have snow! We loved ‘feeling it’, ‘making hand and foot prints’, ‘watching it melt in our hands’ … so much fun!

Enjoy our pictures!
