Primary 6 have been investigating hull shapes, sizes and the best shape and size of sails for wind-powered boats. They have also had the opportunity to do group activities and create their own Viking boats using materials of their choice. The children were set the design brief to create a boat similar to that of the Vikings, which could float and carry cargo. Have a look at the photos to see what was created. The children were able to test their boats in water in the classroom and from that they evaluated what worked well and what needed improved, if they were to do the activity again. The children were able to create their boats using materials which would have ended up in the bin and have therefore been Eco-friendly through this activity too.
