The children learned about Roman catapults today by watching a couple of YouTube videos from the Smithsonian Channel. They then had the chance to create their own catapults with a bag of lollipop sticks, a plastic spoon and elastic bands. Some children were more successful in creating their own catapults and enjoyed firing paper 'rocks'. We then all followed a video showing how to make two different catapults. One was much easier than the other. The children enjoyed the active learning challenge, even if it was a little frustrating in part.
